The project was approved by the ENCNEC on 23rd August 2006 at a total cost of Rs. 1951.695 million, including FEC of Rs. 1413.530 million. The objective of the project was to improve the police operations and augment the VVIPs security by substituting the existing police communication system with the latest digital system. Scope of the project was comprised of installation of 21 BTS (Base Transceiver System) in five major cities (Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi and Quetta).

The project has been completed and PC-IV has been prepared. 23 BTS and 2 MSOs (Karachi & Islamabad) have been deployed. The National Police Bureau striving to hand over the project to the end user i.e. Provincial Police departments.
